About

A magazine for the reflective middle.

Ozemback is an independent cultural magazine on the era of medicated weight loss — the moment in history when diet and exercise stopped being the only sentence we knew.

We started Ozemback because the cultural coverage of weight-loss medication felt either celebratory or panicked, and almost never reflective. The celebratory take treats the medication as miracle. The panicked take treats it as moral failure. Both miss the actual texture of what is happening to millions of people — and to the wider culture that is moving around them.

We wanted a magazine for the reflective middle. The place where essays, reportage, and difficult questions can live without becoming protocols or hot takes.

What we are

An editorial project. Cultural magazine. Independent. Reader-supported. We publish essays, reportage, cultural criticism, personal narrative, interviews, and the occasional photo essay or letter. We update monthly with a single thoughtful letter and intermittently with longer pieces.

What we are not

We are aware that those things exist in volume on the internet. Some are legitimate, many are not, none are us.

"If you came here for instructions on what to take, when to take it, or how to come off it — we love you, and we cannot help you. Please find a licensed clinician you trust. The stories we tell are for after that conversation, not before it."

Who reads us

People going through the medication, considering it, watching someone they love go through it, or watching the culture rearrange itself around all of it. Some are patients. Some are clinicians. Some are journalists, designers, photographers, writers, scientists, skeptics, allies. We try to write something for each of them in turn.

Where we sit

Ozemback is an independent editorial project. We are not funded by, sponsored by, or accountable to any pharmaceutical company, healthcare provider, clinic, lab, supplement brand, telehealth platform, or peptide vendor. We do not sell health products. We do not sell health services. We do not take affiliate commissions on medical decisions or referrals.

When the magazine accepts sponsorship in the future — for the newsletter or for specific projects — it will be from cultural brands (books, kitchens, beauty, mindfulness apps, meal services) and disclosed plainly. No medical sponsors. No clinic affiliates. Ever.

How to write to us

One email: info@ozemback.com. A human reads every message. We answer most. We do not answer medical questions of any kind, even informally — that is what your clinician is for, and we mean that without irony.

If you have a story you want to tell — your story, your reportage, your essay — we read submissions. Plain text in the body of an email. No attachments on first contact.

The disclaimer that matters

Everything on this site is cultural, editorial, and educational. None of it is medical advice. Reading us does not establish a clinician–patient relationship. We do not recommend, endorse, or discourage any medication, dose, protocol, supplement, peptide, hormone, or intervention. Always consult a qualified, licensed healthcare professional before making any medical decision. See the full Legal & Disclaimer.
